Shattemuc Yacht Club, Ossining NY. Plein Air Paintout, Aug 6 2017

This is one of my favorite painting events of the year. 35 artists participate, of whom most are painters and photographers.

We arrive at Shattemuc Yacht Club at 7am and find a position on the dock or in/around the Shattemuc club house.

The idea is to produce a finished piece, ready to hang, by 2pm. The fresh paintings are hung outside the clubhouse for viewing at 3:30pm.

At 5pm the auction begins. All winning bidders take home a newly painted canvas.

This year I painted 3 small yachts from the Shattemuc Sailing Academy.

Oil on wood board, 20"x20". I titled it "Red, White and Blue By U."

It was greeted with many enthusiastic bidders. A percentage of the sale went to the Shattemuc Junior Sailing Program.

Simply a fantastic day, lots of fun and a pleasure to sit by the Hudson River and make a painting.
